“The Laidoff Ninja” is the culmination of over a year’s original research and the groundbreaking work being done by The Layoff Support Network. The book features chapters on emotional support; financial survival; finding opportunities; preparing for interviews and landing a job. Also included are sections that were specifically written to help recent college graduates find their way into the workforce. With techniques on finding insider contacts at potential employers, The Laidoff Ninja provides insights unavailable anywhere else. The Laidoff Ninja is a must-have part of any job-searcher’s toolkit.
There is no “theory” in The Laidoff Ninja. The information presented in the book comes from the real-life experience of hundreds of Layoff Support Network members. Not only does The Laidoff Ninja include proven job searching techniques, it contains a great deal of information on financial survival. Many Layoff Support Network members have been unemployed for extended periods of time. Surviving extended unemployment often requires the use of techniques one would never consider using in normal daily life. Layoff Support Network members have generously offered a great deal of advice on how they survived their own financial crises.
The Laidoff Ninja contains chapters on the most difficult component of “unexpected unemployment”, its emotional impact. In order to survive, a layoff victim must first come to grips with his or her situation. The Laidoff Ninja identifies several possible emotional reactions and offers suggestions on how to cope with them. Of particular importance is identifying dangerous actions being considered and the consequences of those actions. Thoughts of revenge and crime have been discussed more then once on the Layoff Support Network. At the time of this writing, there is no other book that has approached these controversial topics.
